Here are  two links to my favorite Antarctic Scientist.  If it were not for her encouragment I would not be here now.  I cannot thank her enough.

Oct 24  Last Sunday evening I attended a lecture by Dr Brent Christner from the Dept of Bio Sciences at  LSU.  He studies life in extremely cold climates. He explained that the old view of Antractica  as a sterile dead place is changing to a view that Antarctica is teeming with life, albeit microscopic life.  He explained that large amounts of liquid fresh water exists under the Antarctic ice sheets and that these lakes may hold many unknown species of life. Here is a link to his research.

Oct 8 Every Sunday evening in McMurdo a scientist  gives a public lecture on the research he or she is doing in Antarctica. Last evening I attended  a fascinating presentation by Dr Paul Ponganis from Scripps Institute of Oceanography. He has been coming to Antarctica for years to study Emperor Penguins. Emperor Penguins can dive deeper than 1800 feet and stay underwater for 20 minutes in their hunt for fish. Here is a link to some of his findings on Emperor Penquins.

Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too can become great".
